Homeopathy is a holistic system of medicine which treats the whole person not just the disease. It is based on the natural principle that ‘like cures like’. This means that something that has made you unwell will make you better. For example, a cup of coffee can keep you awake, the corresponding homeopathc remedy, Coffea, is given for sleeplessness.
Homeopathic remedies are made mainly from plants and minerals and are taken in either sucrose tablet of liquid form. The remedies are safe, non-toxic and suitable for all ages, including babies. Remedies can also be used safely in conjunction with conventional medicine.
Homeopathy is safe, gentle and non habit forming. It can be used to alleviate many conditions ranging from acute illnesses such as flu, sore throats, ear infections and stomach aches to more chronic problems like allergies, arthritis, digestive and hormonal complaints.
Children may benefit from homeopathy making them less susceptible to childhood problems such as colic and teething, recurrent coughs and colds, catarrh and glue ear, behavioural, emotional and learning difficulties and hyperactivity, asthma and eczema.
Women’s common complaints can be addressed through homeopathy including, cystitis and thrush, fatigue, headaches, irritable bowel syndrome, menstrual and menopausal problems, infertility, anxiety, stress and grief.
Men are notorious for ignoring their health issues. Chronic complaints commonly seen in the practice include, chronic fatigue syndrome, depression, high blood pressure, anxiety and palpitations, insomnia, headaches, digestive complaints, urinary problems, skin complaints and gout.
