Osteopathy is an established system of diagnosis and treatment with the main emphasis on the structural integrity of the body.
It is a largely hands-on approach to investigate the underlying cause of pain. Treatment uses a variety of manipulative techniques which may include stretching, rhythmic joint movements or high velocity thrust techniques to improve the movement of a joint. Gentle releasing techniques are often used especially when treating children or elderly patients.
Commonly treated problems include backache, muscle strains, sciatica, knee injuries, tendontitis, sholder injuries, arthritis and ligament sprains.
Jason Houghton is a member of the General Osteopathic Council but also holds diplomas in Sports Massage Therapy, Personal Training and Nutrition for Health and Fitness. This enables Jason to consider not only the osteopathic treatment but also advise on exercise, nutrition and lifestyle.
